Before engaging any contractor, you need to be sure they are licensed or certificated (if applicable) to do the job.
You also need to be sure the contractor is capable and competent to do the job and do it safely. This could be demonstrated by evidence of formal training, perhaps provided by the company, or through their work history. (You may need to check references or by contacting farmers you know who have used the contractor).
Once you are sure the contractor is competent, you need to be sure they work safely and use safe equipment. Again, the contractor company may provide documents in relation to this or you may have to check work history, references or see them working on site.
